Join Class Act Productions for a hands-on summer of games, activities and projects designed to explore the many different types of theatrical performance. With classes for children in grades 1st through 12th, there are opportunities abound!

Puppets, Puppets, Puppets!

In a tiny world of endless imagination, your children bring the puppets to life and let them do all the talking! In this class, children will craft their own hand puppets and work together to create and weave a story that puts their favorite characters at the heart of the action.

For children in grades 1st through 4th
Class Schedule: July 6-10 (Monday-Friday) 9:00am – 12:00pm

Join the Story: An Interactive Exploration

Join the Story puts all children into the minds and voices of the characters with an emphasis on developing problem-solving skills. Arts and crafts, improvised character conversations and writing activities fuel the imagination as the children leap from page-to-page and story-to-story.

Technical Theatre: An Immersion Study

With every production, the actors and their lines lend a voice for the story, but what about the set, the lights, the sound and the costumes? These elements paint portraits and landscapes for the world in which these stories exist. In this class, students will learn basic set, sound and light design and how these elements are woven into every story that sees the stage.

For children in grades 7th through 12th

Ventriloquism: A Dummy’s Guide to Throwing Your Voice

Can you talk in a silly and unique voice? Can you fool others into thinking that your voice is coming from somewhere else? In this edition of “A Dummy’s Guide…” you won’t just learn how to change and throw your voice; you’ll create your very own dummy and practice carrying on a conversation as though there were two of you around!

For children in grades 4th through 7th

The Magician’s Craft

No one can resist asking, “How did you do that?!” when they see a great magic trick. But with Summer CAmP 2015, you’ll be in control as you learn the tricks of the trade. With games and activities geared at honing your magic craft, you’ll be well on your way to impressing your friends and family with your misdirection and sleight of hand!

For children in grades 4th through 7th

What’s an Audition?

Auditions are the way that a Director learns what their actors are capable of and where they fit best. But often times, they can be challenging and frightening for the actors themselves! In this workshop, jump on the stage and gain your confidence as you go through a mock audition to learn what is expected of you and how you can put your best song and dance forward.

For children ages 7-16
Class Schedule: August 8 (Saturday) 9:00am – 10:30am

Class size requirements: minimum 5, maximum 50

Seminar: Theatre After High School

In children’s theatre, kids are taught the foundations, from its decorum to its history. However, as all theatre practitioners will attest, the expectations for an actor or technician increase dramatically after High School. Join us for this 90 minute seminar to delve into the challenges that await the theatre student on a college and/or professional stage.
