It’s summer in Altoona and that means Live Theatre in Haines Park! The ’24 CAP Classic Antigone runs July 25-28 and will be held outdoors at the Haines Park Amphitheater for its Thursday through Saturday evening performances. The Sunday matinee performance will be held indoors at CAP Theatre. For our outdoor performance, bring your blankets, lawn chairs, picnic baskets and enjoy Antigone, the final installment of the Greek Sophocles’ trilogy. The tale of Antigone explores mortality, authority, and consequences of pride. You may find yourself asking the question – Would you have the strength of character to do what is morally right, even if the action is legally wrong?

Our last week of summer camp starts this Monday, July 22nd. A few spots remain for our ’24 Summer Performance CAmP “The Actor’s Toolbox,” led by our Director of Anastasia: The Musical Youth Edition, Julie Rodish-Reed. During this week-long camp, you will learn how to better leverage your acting tools to create a character and tell a story. CAP-off the week with a performance to demonstrate what you have learned. Designed for youth entering 4-9th grade in the Fall of 2024.
Are you looking to expand your theatre skill set? Our CAPstone Workshops are offered the Second Saturday of the month and provide opportunities for a hands-on theatre training that will help develop a solid foundation in the theatre by learning valuable skills. Our next CAPstone educational workshop “Audition Fundamentals” will take place on Saturday, August 10th from 6:00-8:00 PM at CAP Theatre! Register for “Audition Fundamentals” here.
In the mood for laughter and spontaneity? Then check out our monthly MadCAP Improv Workshop on the third Saturday of each month. These workshops are designed to help young adults, grades 6-12, find confidence in the power of their voice and imagination through wild, fast-paced improvisation games. Our next workshop is Saturday, July 20th at Haines Park from 5:00-7:00 PM. No registration necessary, $5.00 (CASH ONLY). If your student is interested, the only thing they must do is say “Yes, And!”
